Three months ago I hired someone new. She processes every Excel file we receive before 8 AM. She replies to client emails within four minutes. She remembers every client's quirks, preferences, and the exact format they like their reports in. She has never taken a sick day. Her name is Aria, and she doesn't exist - not physically, anyway.

Aria is a Crossnode Worker. A new kind of AI entity that isn't a chatbot, isn't a workflow, and isn't an agent in the traditional sense. She's something we've been quietly building for the past year, and today we're talking about it publicly for the first time.

The problem with every AI product so far

Every AI product solves the same problem: give it a task, get a result. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini - brilliant at tasks. Terrible at jobs.

A task has a start and an end. A job is continuous. It has memory, context, ongoing relationships. It receives inputs from the world (emails, Slack messages, uploaded files, webhooks) and produces outputs that matter to real people. It gets better over time. It earns trust.

The gap between "task" and "job" is enormous - and no one had built across it. Until Workers.

What a Worker actually is

A Worker is an autonomous AI entity with:

  • A persistent job description - a charter that defines their scope, success criteria, and personality.
  • Cross-run memory - they remember what happened in every previous run, building context over time.
  • A multi-agent swarm underneath - an orchestrator that coordinates specialists for complex tasks.
  • Multi-channel inboxes - email, Telegram, WhatsApp, webhooks. They receive real-world inputs.
  • File processing capabilities - upload an XLSX, a PDF, a ZIP, an MP3. They know what to do with it.
  • Deliverable production - they output versioned artifacts: reports, CSVs, summaries, drafts.
  • A client portal - share a link, clients can talk to your Worker directly.

Put all of that together and you get something that operates like a junior employee - one with superhuman speed, perfect recall, and zero ego.

The moment it clicked

We were running a financial reconciliation workflow for a client. Every morning, their accountant would download a CSV from Stripe, cross-reference it with QuickBooks, and write a summary email to the finance team. 45 minutes, every single day, for years.

We built a Worker for it. He processes the CSV as soon as it arrives (via email or direct upload), runs the reconciliation in a sandboxed environment, writes the summary, and sends the email. He's been doing it for 90 days. He's gotten faster. His summaries have gotten more precise, because he remembers the mistakes from previous weeks and avoids them.

The accountant now spends those 45 minutes on actual strategy. The client didn't need to change anything about how they work - they just CC'd the Worker.

How to hire one in 30 seconds

Go to the AI Workers tab. Describe what you need in plain English - be specific. The more detail, the better the hire. Our AI reads your description, designs a swarm architecture, creates the agents, writes their instructions, and activates the Worker. The whole thing takes about 20 seconds.

Then you configure the channels: which email address they monitor, whether they should be on Telegram or WhatsApp, what their cron schedule is (or none - they'll self-wake when there's work to do), and whether they have a public-facing client portal.

That's it. Your new employee is ready.

The workers we've seen built so far

In the three months since we soft-launched this to a closed group of agencies, we've seen Workers built for:

  • Data Analyst: Receives XLSX files by email, produces clean summaries and charts.
  • Lead Qualifier: Scores inbound leads against ICP, enriches with LinkedIn data, updates HubSpot.
  • Content Strategist: Weekly keyword research, writes SEO articles, schedules to Notion.
  • Client Onboarder: Triggered by CRM deal close, runs full onboarding sequence automatically.
  • Invoice Reconciler: Matches Stripe payments to QuickBooks invoices, flags mismatches.
  • Sprint Journalist: Every Friday, summarises closed PRs and Jira tickets into an exec digest.

Every single one was built in under two minutes. Every single one is running in production for a paying client.

What's next

We're just getting started. Workers are getting voice channels (answer phone calls, transcribe and act), deeper integrations with your tools (native Salesforce, HubSpot, Linear connectors), and a marketplace where agencies can publish and sell their Workers as productized services.

The vision is simple: every business should be able to hire an AI employee for any function in under five minutes. Not a tool. Not a chatbot. An employee.

Aria is waiting.
